Selection guide / Professional lighting
Choose professional luminaires for your project in Morocco
High bay, damp-proof luminaire, panel, downlight or LED strip: product form alone is not enough to make a selection. Start with the tasks, space and installation, then assemble a brief that allows each reference to be verified. This guide prepares an enquiry; it is neither a list of available products nor a technical validation.
Industry: high bays and damp-proof luminaires
In a workshop or warehouse, record heights, machinery, shelving and maintenance access. For a high bay, compare photometric distribution with aisles and workstations: luminous flux alone does not describe useful light at floor level. For a damp-proof luminaire, check dust, moisture, temperature and cleaning conditions. IP and IK ratings must match the actual need; on their own, they do not demonstrate chemical compatibility or suitability for a particular atmosphere.
Indoor: panels and downlights
In offices, classrooms or reception areas, examine screens, boards and viewing directions. Panels and downlights require checks of the ceiling, cut-out, recess and driver access. Visual comfort is verified in the layout, using the selected variant's photometry. For a healthcare facility, distinguish circulation areas, reception and rooms with specific requirements: a general selection does not constitute validation for medical use.
Outdoor: floodlights and public spaces
For surrounding areas, courtyards or public spaces, specify routes, obstacles, neighbours and hours of use. Compare optics, orientation, mounting and control options before selecting a floodlight. Higher power does not necessarily correct poor distribution. Check actual exposure conditions, fixings and maintenance access. The study must also examine light directed outside the intended area and site constraints.
Lines of light: strips, modules and profiles
Define the desired effect: accent lighting, integrated lighting or a visible line. For strips and modules, gather the voltage, power per unit length, cutting and power supply limits, and thermal conditions. The profile, diffuser and integration affect the result and must be selected as part of the system. Check connections and access to power supplies. Do not infer compatibility between a strip and a driver from their nominal power alone.
Refurbishment: lamps and tubes
Photograph the markings on the lamp or tube, the base and the existing control gear. Identical geometry does not guarantee electrical compatibility. Substitution may depend on the ballast, wiring and instructions for the manufacturer reference. Have any modification checked by a qualified professional. Then compare light distribution, colour temperature and operating conditions, rather than automatically equating an LED power rating with a previous power rating.
Controls: drivers, DALI and sensors
Treat the luminaire, its driver and controls as a whole. Confirm the supply method, electrical ranges, protocol and documented compatibility. For DALI, gather the equipment references and commissioning requirements. For sensors, specify the detection zone, uses and daylight contribution. Plan settings, testing and operating instructions: controllable equipment alone does not constitute a correctly configured system.
Emergency lighting: a separate brief to verify
Emergency lighting must be addressed according to the building, its operation and the applicable requirements. Identify escape routes and gather the information required by the professional responsible for the design. Compatibility, layout, duration, testing and maintenance require evidence specific to the selected system. Do not assume that adding any module makes an ordinary luminaire suitable for emergency lighting.
Submit a usable brief
Send plans, heights, uses, mounting constraints, existing references and estimated quantities. Attach the available data sheets and photometric files, identifying their variant. Highlight missing information. Potentiel Énergie can use this brief to scope the selection and study; specifications, availability and supply terms must then be confirmed for the selected references.
